Eucalyptus Trees - Interesting Notes
Western Australia is home to over 400 species of eucalyptus, many of which grow nowhere else on Earth.
WA is famous for giant-fruited eucalypts like the Mottlecah (Eucalyptus macrocarpa) and the Large-fruited Mallee (Eucalyptus youngiana), which produce huge decorative gumnuts.
Fossil records show eucalypts have been in Australia for tens of millions of years, shaping the continent’s ecosystems.
For Noongar people, eucalypts provided medicine, tools, shelter, and spiritual meaning, with leaves and bark used in ceremonies and healing.
