Pine Trees - Interesting Notes
Araucaria heterophylla commonly known as Norfolk Island Pine, is a tall conifer that belongs to the family Araucariaceae.
Despite its name, it isn’t a true pine (Pinus). It belongs to an ancient family of conifers, which dates back to the time of the dinosaurs.
The trees are planted abundantly along oceanic coastal areas of Australia.
Early sailors used the tall, straight trees as navigational markers, spotting islands from afar thanks to their distinctive silhouette.
Symbolism - Its ability to thrive in harsh coastal winds makes it a symbol of endurance, adaptability, and resilience.
